I was somehow decided to build my own version. Looking for some information on the subject I came across this french forum discussion on “Le Chant du Vario”. You can see a first example made by a very good craftman:

original A nice personal realisation

Interrestingly the discussion was also pointing to some Ikea furniture like: NYPLOCKAD Ikea NYPLOCKAD Plate holder

This product might be discontinued but while looking for it I also found this interesting candidate:

VARIERA Ikea VARIERA Pot lid organiser

This polished inox finish directly caught my eye. As you can see from the product detail, the holding pins also have a convenient dimension, the assembly manual confirms they are not pre-sealed and the price is reasonnable (~6€)

I could then easily assemble those pins for my future board assembly! I decided to buy it ad give it a try.

You can see some more details of the pins on these photos:

I used an recuperated MDF board to fix the pins at regular interval. I added some furniture foot to protect the surface where the board will be used.

I choose the distance between the pins slighly shorter than my POD. I kept the board a bit larger than it should to be able to do some additionnal holes that could suits my future rescues or cut it in 2 to make one friend happy :-)

For a bit less than 10€ you have a nice board that will help you implement your life backup strategy!
